Power-Packed Crispy No-Bake Fudge Bites

You had me at Fudge Bites.

While I might have fallen on the beachbody bandwagon lately, I was back on board when I saw this Fudge-Bites recipe posted by my Beachbody coach and friend Elena.

I’ve been looking for a good tasty snack to have on hand, especially for my hubby who DOES work out so hard. So when I saw a recipe for Fudge Bites I knew I had to try it. And I happened to have everything on hand.

I made a few adaptations from the original recipe, but here is my version:

Power-Packed Crispy No-Bake Fudge Bites

1/2 cup peanut butter (a generous 1/2 cup measurement)

2 cups oatmeal

1/3 – 1/2 cup agave syrup

1/2 cup Kashi 7-whole grain Puffs cereal (which is what we happened to have on hand, or any “crispy rice” cereal will do the trick)

1 generous scoop of Chocolate Protein Powder (or Shakeology)

Combine oatmeal, cereal, and protein powder in a mixing bowl.

Measure out the peanut butter and put in a microwave safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds or just until melted.

Pour over the oatmeal, cereal, protein powder mixture and combine well, adding in the agave syrup until you have a moist but crumbly mixture.

Using hands, roll the mixture into golf-ball sized balls and put on a plate or cookie sheet.

Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or just until firm and enjoy!

Haircuts and Facials

Last week was a glorious week for this new momma. Between my husband’s work schedule and baby girl’s sleep schedule, it has been 8 months since I have been to a hair salon. Oh, it has been cut (at a walk-in friendly place that rhymes with Stairmaster) and it has been colored (who knew that “hot roots” meant your hair would turn orange?).

Alas, sleep and work schedules finally aligned and my sweet hair stylist worked me in last minute. I forgot how polished a good haircut can make you feel. It was about d*mn time!

Anyways, I put together a few Rodan+Fields mini-facials to leave for the ladies there. I can’t wait to hear what they think! (Each Mini-Facial contains a sample of the Microdermabrasion Paste, Anti-Age Night Renewing Serum and Lip Renewing Serum.)

Until then, I’ll be enjoying my new do.

Paris, Je t’aime et cafe creme.

Fall is always tinged with a bit of nostalgia. First day of school photos, football season and coffee cravings. I remember the best cup of coffee I ever had. It was in Paris. Before heading to our apartment for the week, we had to go to a cafe around the corner and get the key from the bar keeper. Before heading to the apartment, we sat down to enjoy our first cup of coffee. It was pure heaven. I was instantly transformed and ready to live like a (touristy) Parisienne for the week.

There is nothing better than a cafe creme in Paris. And I had one every day.

First Day of School

After seeing all the “First Day of School” photos floating around facebook, twitter & instagram, Clementine decided she wanted to go to school. She grabbed her favorite book, her favorite bunny (Pat) and sat on the front porch waiting for the school bus to come pick her up.

She insisted we shared her first day of school photos like all the other children. My sweet little babe.

I know all too well that school really will be here before we know it. Until then, we’ll pretend.

Wire & Pearls

Yesterday I mentioned I was working on a custom order. Although the custom order is not quite yet complete, I went ahead and worked on another necklace. This design is one of my favorites to wear. I have two in my personal collection. I love the way they feel against my skin, the weight of them and that I won’t see anybody else wearing one like it. No two will ever be alike. They are handmade.

Who knew it was so hard to find a plain black chain? That’s all I’m waiting on to complete this custom order.

Happy crafting!

The Weekend

For me this past weekend started off with a beer and a little jewelry making. Not a bad way to kick things off! A custom order got me back at it again, but soon I’ll have a few extra pretties to add to the shop.

Then, after a journey all the way over from England to Columbus, GA via the Charleston port – my husband’s new (old) Landrover Defender made it in time for the weekend. It’s a pretty darn cool truck if I do say so myself.

And despite a weekend full of getting the house and yard ready to put it on the market we squeezed in a Sunday morning coffee run in the new truck. A coffee run means nothing to little Miss Clementine, she fell asleep on the way home so we put her carseat in the crib and let her nap there. She didn’t seem to mind and woke up all smiles.

Here’s to a week as productive and fun as the weekend!

*My husband took these awesome photos. He was a professional photographer in another life (the pre-army life) and a dang good one at that!

Tired of adding to your Beauty Product Graveyard? Rodan and Fields Giveaway!

Beauty Product Graveyard

So if you don’t already know, although I am a crafter by trade I recently started selling Rodan+Fields skincare products. Pregnancy was not nice to my skin and after turning thirty I decided I needed a good skincare routine. But where to start?

I already had a bin full of half-used beauty & skincare products sitting in the closet. (see above photo!)

The dreaded beauty product graveyard.

The one we all bury deep in a closet or drawer.

I have wasted so much money trying to buy the “cheaper” product. Which by the way at $20+ a bottle, is NOT cheap to NOT work! I’ve looked at department store, beauty store or drug store shelves and played a game of eenie-meenie-minie-moe. They all promise the same thing and I was OVER IT!

Rodan and Fields

A friend of mine had just started selling Rodan+Fields skincare products and sent me a sample. And seriously, I loved it so much I immediately got online and checked out the company. She had me hooked.

I learned that Rodan+Fields was developed by the creators of ProActiv. I looked at TONS of before and afters. And after a little more research and a million questions later, I was not only a customer, but I was on board as a consultant.

Rodan Fields

For me it took the guesswork out of skincare. No more staring at aisles and aisles of products. And I knew that if it didn’t work, even after 60 days I could simply return it.

As nerdy as it is, I now look forward to my skincare routine. Where I used to dread washing my face before bed, I’m actually excited to! A little dorky? Probably.

So … here’s the good part, I want to share with you!

Fireplace Mantle Re-Do

I find decorating mantles difficult. Here was the latest set-up. I threw a couple of thrift store finds up there along with 2 geode candle votives. I know it doesn’t look right. I’d love to do a series of pictures, but I’m not a fan of nailing into our 1920’s plaster walls.

After pinning and houzz-ing many I decided I needed a clean, bold look. And with a 40% off coupon to Hobby Lobby I’m happy with the mirror. BIG improvement. Now, where can I go about finding firewood in the middle of the Georgia summer?!

Here are some other fireplaces j’adore:

How To: Make a small bathroom look bigger

Ditch the standard shower curtain and install an extra long one! I found this one on amazon.

How To: Make a small bathroom look biggerWe love our home. It’s a bungalow built in 1928 & full of charm. It has a great porch with arched entrance, tall ceilings, dark hardwood floors … and a tiny bathroom.

After a little Pin-spiration, I was able to add a bold statement to the small space.

DIY Nail Art: Going for the Gold – 2012 Olympics

Inspired by all the 2012 Olympic excitement, I thought some celebratory nail art was in order.

You’ll need:

1) white nail polish – I used Orly (because it was on clearance at Beauty Supply)

2) glitter in primary colors & in gold (be careful, some glitters will bleed)

3) clear top coat

As soon as each nail is painted, dip the end of the nail in a shallow dish of the colored glitter. For the “Going Gold” nail, pour the gold glitter over the white polish when it is still wet. Tap the nails off to remove excess glitter.

Top with a clear top coat and wait for them to dry!

For me, this was definitely a short-term look. Some of the glitter continued to fall off, and with a little one around, I didn’t want her eating glitter! That, and I didn’t wait long enough for it to dry and had some smudges!

Happy 2012 Olympic Watching!
