Taking Care of Business

Taking Care of Business

My new business cards & getting samples in the mail!

I’ve recently embarked on a new venture that has my wheels turning and I’m loving every minute of it! Ever since I signed on board to be a Rodan+Fields consultant, I’ve hit the ground running. My marketing, design and PR background has kicked into gear and I’ve been using my brain in a way that I haven’t in a while. And I like it.

After having Clementine my skin was all out of wack. And now that I’m 30, I was ready to start looking for an anti-aging skincare routine but did not know where to begin. A friend of mine had just signed up to be a Rodan+Fields consultant and was sending out samples of one of their products. After trying it I was hooked. And after looking into the company (from the same creators of ProActiv), I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of.

The prospect of a little extra financial stability appealed to both my husband and I. And while a part-time or full-time job could probably do the same, we are both dedicated to making it possible for me to stay home with our daughter.

Anyways, I’ve had fun getting geeky and learning about QR codes, designing business cards, networking and brainstorming. I’m in the ground phase of this venture, but I know if I do my due diligence and lay the proper groundwork, it will pay off!

Any new ventures got your wheels turning? It’s fun, isn’t it!

New Earrings for Etsy

New Earrings

It’s almost been six month since Clementine was born, so it’s been a while since I’ve made anything new for the shop. It was time for some new earrings!

I am such a sucker for pearls, and I love my stash of them. So of course the earrings were pearl drops! Sometime’s I’m stingy with my pearls because I hate to use them up. Silly me. But I made 3 pairs, which means only 2 made it to the shop because one is going into my collection.

Any of you crafters like that? Hate to use your supplies, even though you bought them to use for projects? Or am I alone in this?!

DIY: Personalized Wedding Gifts

When it comes to weddings and babies and birthdays I prefer to shop outside the box. Sometimes that means skipping over the registry requests. I always check them out first, it can give me an idea of their personality or style (for those friends or family members I haven’t seen in a while). Then, when I’m assured that many of their requests have already been fulfilled, I let myself have a little fun.

Here are two personalized wedding state map prints I recently made. Using Adobe Photoshop, I chose colors reflective of their wedding, printed them at my local copy center, put them in a frame and shipped them off! I’ve been really pleased with how they’ve turned out. And I hope they like them too!

If you’re not Photoshop/techy savvy, I’m sure you could hand make one using cutouts. But there is no lack of them on Etsy. Here’s one shop, but there are many more!

The Day She was Born

This morning as I sat her looking at my baby girl playing in her exersaucer, I thought back to when she was a teeny newborn. Pouring over the photos from that day, I’m stunned by how they bring me right back to those moment and feelings I had looking at her, holding her and breathing her in. So surreal.

Hush Little Baby

1. Seeing her for the first time.

2. Seeing my husband hold her hand.

3. Our daughter looking at us. Her parents.

4. Her tiny body in those ridiculous hand mittens, the teeny hospital shirt we still have. And skinny legs.

5. Sleeping beauty.

6. Sweet, sweet profile.

7. That little bird mouth.

8. The way she was so alert and looked around. (when she was awake)

9. Sweet baby naps and how she fit so perfectly on my chest.

10. Going home and how tiny she was in that carseat.

DIY Nails: Sophisticated Herringbone

Inspired by this tutorial, I gave it a go. I painted scotch tape and cut them into strips – worked just fine.

Nail Polishes used:

O.P.I. – Barefoot in Barcelona

China Glaze – Flying High

Piggy Polish – Strong Like Jazz

Revlon – Devilish

With all this effort I’ve been putting into manicures, it has me paying close attention to my hands. How the veins are starting to “pop” and a few more freckles are here and there.

I think I know exactly what will be going into my next Rodan + Fields order.

This is my first attempt at nail art.

I used Revlon Devilish & Oh My Magenta.

In the mail

I found this adorable owl baby hat on etsy.

It’s the perfect gift for my cousin who is doing an owl themed gender neutral nursery.

Of course Clementine wanted to try it on!

Happy Saturday!
